Description

One of my favorite places to find birds is the Audubon Swamp just outside the Magnolia Plantation near Charleston, SC. There is an easily accessible rookery containing many different species of primarily waterfowl including Great Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Wood Ducks, Mallards, and many others. This is a Great Egret taking flight on it's way back to its nest. They are very graceful birds and in spite of their muddy envirornment they always seem bo be pristinely white.
