Description
I found another rookery near Huntington State Park on the coast of South Carolina. I am fascinated watching the various birds there build their nests in the early Spring. One of the nesting pair of Egrets typically witl fly off and find sticks, one by one, to use as building material for the nest. On its return to the nest, the other bird will take the stick and carefully find a place to put it. This activity repeats over and over until a fairly large nest is built. Egret pairs frequently have from one to three chicks in a brood, so the nest must be big enough to accomodate the chicks and at least one adult.
